A U.K. woman who made false allegations of being raped was given something other than charges for her false claims that put a man in jail.
Police announced on July 27 they decided not to charge the woman with a crime. Instead, police said they gave her “strong words of advice,” Gazette Live reported.
Cleveland Police announced on July 26 that there will be no ongoing police involvement in the incident.
The woman originally claimed she had been raped at about 2 a.m. on July 26, Gazette Live reported.
The woman has now confirmed that the report was fabricated, and the 32-year-old man arrested was released from police custody. He will not be charged with a crime and police have stopped the investigation.
Police also thanked the public “for their patience” during the investigation.
