A video (below) filmed by an unidentified bystander shows a gunman opening fire outside a McDonald's restaurant on July 22 in Munich, Germany.
The gunman, wearing a cap and sunglasses, began his shooting spree outside the fast food restaurant near the Olympia-Einkaufszentrum shopping mall, notes the Daily Mirror.
The gunman walked to the shopping mall and kept firing during this possible terror attack, which claimed the lives of at least nine people and injured 21 others, CNN reports.
Munich police chief Hubertus Andrae said authorities found an 18-year-old German-Iranian, whom they believe to be the lone gunman, dead as a result of suicide.
A witness, who identified herself as Lauretta, said her son was in a bathroom with the shooter inside the McDonald's: "That's where he loaded his weapon. I hear like an alarm and boom, boom, boom ... And he's still killing the children. The children were sitting to eat. They can't run."
Lauretta said the gunman yelled, "Allahu Akbar" in Arabic, and added: "I know this because I'm Muslim. I hear this and I only cry."
Andrae told reporters: "The question of terrorism or a rampage is tied to motive, and we don't know the motive. We can't question the suspect so this is all a little more difficult," notes Tribune News Service.
Some witnesses thought they saw three armed men, but Andrae said the other two had "nothing to do with the incident."
Lynn Stein, an employee at a store inside the mall, told CNN that "People were very confused, and they were running and they were screaming."
Stein also recalled seeing a dead or injured person, stating, "There's a woman over them, crying."
Thamina Stoll, a nearby resident, added: "There were like 50 people running towards our house to seek shelter, and there was a helicopter circling above us for about 20 minutes and sirens. And there's still people walking on the streets. They're confused, and nobody knows what's really going on."
