Two workers in a small Indian village turned themselves into police after killing their boss for allegedly raping their teenage daughters.
According to reports, the two men had grown frustrated with the lack of action by police in Manauri village in eastern India. The workers attempted to report the crimes to police on multiple occasions, but every time, their boss would pay the police to keep quiet about the crimes, reports Gulf News India.
Recently, the workers’ boss, 55-year-old Mani Prasad Singh, reportedly tried to rape a 12-year-old daughter of one of the men, and once they caught wind of that, they decided they had let it happen long enough. The two angry fathers ambushed their boss and murdered him in retaliation for all he had done to their daughters.
“Instantly, we overpowered him and chopped him to death with a sharp dagger,” the workers, Mohammad Sirajul and Prasenjit Barman, allegedly told police.
“They (workers) surrendered before us and confessed having killed the rapist,” Superintendent of police Pankaj Kumar Sinha said in a statement. “They also handed us the weapons which they had used to kill the man.”
The two men are currently in police custody. Rape has become an increasing problem in India, with a recent report indicating that crimes against women have increased 7.1 percent since 2010, reports More.
