Trump Certain EgyptAir Plane Was 'Blown Out Of The Sky'

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump believes the EgyptAir flight that disappeared over the Mediterranean Sea on May 19 was shot down by terrorists.

“A plane got blown out of the sky,” Trump said at a fundraiser in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, the evening after the plane went missing, according to ABC News. “And if anything, if anybody thinks it wasn’t blown out of the sky, you are 100 percent wrong, folks. OK? You’re 100 percent wrong.”

Trump’s statement came while he was attacking Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for her alleged refusal to use the term radical Islamic terrorism.

“We had a terrible tragedy, and she said that Donald Trump talked about radical Islamic terrorism -- which she doesn’t want to use,” Trump said. “She used a different term, because she does not want to use that term. She refuses to use that term.”

Earlier in the day, Trump took to Twitter to allege that the plane’s disappearance was due to an act of terror.

“Looks like yet another terrorist attack. Airplane departed from Paris. When will we get tough, smart and vigilant? Great hate and sickness!” he tweeted.

It is still unknown why EgyptAir flight 804 disappeared. A distress signal from the plane was not received before it went missing in Egyptian airspace over the Mediterranean Sea.

Human remains, an airplane seat and luggage have reportedly been found about 5 miles south of the last point of contact the plane had on radar, according to a Greek official, ABC News reports.

Search teams continue to scour the area south of the Greek island of Crete for signs of the plane.

Egyptian officials believe terrorists may be responsible for the plane’s crash.

“I don’t want to go to assumptions like others, but if you analyze the situation properly, the possibility ... of having a terror attack is higher than having a technical [failure],” Egyptian aviation minister Sherif Fathi said.

U.S. government satellites do not show any indication there was an explosion along the plane’s flight path.
