Syrian Rape Victim Found Stabbed To Death Amid Claims Mother Ordered Her Killing

A 20-year-old Syrian woman who was reportedly gang-raped by three men was found stabbed to death at her family’s community garden plot in Dessau, Germany, on Oct. 2.

Rokstan M fled Syria for Germany two years ago after the sexual assault, Daily Mail reported.

“I was taken by three men,” Rokstan said in a recorded message, according to Daily Mail. "Ever since that time, my family have regarded me as unclean. My mother and my brothers mistreat me. They say that I deserve to die.”

Rokstan’s body was found buried in a shallow grave. Police suspect her father and two brothers might have been involved in the killing.

“I’m awaiting death,” Rokstan reportedly wrote on her WhatsApp profile shortly before her body was found. "But I’m too young to die."

“There is the suspicion that the act was carried out by persons in her close circle with a culture motive in the background,” said local prosecutor Christian Preissner.

The young woman was reportedly well-integrated into German society, working as a translator to help refugees.

“Rokstan told me her terrible fate after she had helped me with translations,” said author Mark Kruger, who employed her to translate interviews for a book he is working on.

Kruger claimed that the woman’s mother ordered the killing, also alleging that she previously hired a hit man to do it.

“I had nothing to do with her death,” Roda, Rokstan’s mother, said.

Police have been unable to apprehend Hasso, the father, or Rokstan’s two brothers. They believe Hasso might have fled the country.

News of the suspected honor killing came just days after the trial of Asadullah Khan and his wife, Shazia, commenced in the German city of Darmstadt. The pair are accused of killing their 19-year-old daughter, Lareeb, after hearing she had tried to steal condoms to use with her boyfriend, The Independent reported.

Asadullah said in court that he believed Lareeb should have an arranged marriage, and claimed she had brought dishonor to the family by being in a relationship with a boy he did not approve of.
