Police are investigating the stabbing of a man in a London subway as a terrorist attack, after the suspect was heard screaming, “This is for Syria” before slashing the victim’s throat.
Authorities confirmed that they were treating the incident as a terror attack following the arrest of the suspect, who was apprehended using a taser around 7:15 p.m.
“ I would urge the public to remain calm, but alert and vigilant. The threat from terrorism remains at severe, which means that a terrorist attack is highly likely,” Counter Terrorism Commander Richard Walton said.
“One man has sustained serious knife injuries; these are not believed at this stage to be life-threatening. Two other people have sustained minor injuries,” a police spokesman added.
A witness at the train station said they heard the attacker shouting “This is for Syria” and “All your blood will be spilled” at passengers as they made their way through the station.
