A husband and wife both reportedly died after they had sex in a hotel hot tub.
Charles Mackenzie, 67, and his wife Dorothy Mackenzie, 63, had traveled from Canada to the Playaca Palace hotel, in Mexico, for their daughter’s wedding, the Toronto Sun reports.
The couple, from Baddeck, Novia Scotia, were found dead around 10 a.m. on Nov. 10 in a hot tub, just two days before their daughter was set to get married.
Although it was initially believed that the two had died following a hot tub malfunction, an autopsy later revealed that Charles had suffered from a heart attack, and Dorothy had died of asphyxiation underneath him.
The heart attack allegedly occurred while the couple was having sex, according to Mirror.co.uk.
“The room was perfectly fine,” a Playaca Palace hotel spokesperson said, according to the Toronto Sun. “All the equipment was working perfectly.”
Douglas Hastings, Charles’ brother-in-law, noted that the family is currently concerned with cremation and funeral arrangements.
“I don’t really know about the wedding,” Hastings added.
The couple's family is still staying at the hotel and is currently being assisted by hotel staff.
