Olympic Pole Vaulter Thwarted By Own Penis (Video)

Japanese pole vaulter Hiroki Ogita was kept out of the finals at the Rio Olympics this week because of his penis (video below).

Ogita was trying to clear 17.3 feet during the qualifying rounds when his leg and shin struck the bar and caused it to shake, then Ogita's penis knocked the bar loose, notes

The 28-year-old's arm carried the bar down with him to the mat below where he was charged with a foul.

The Olympian and his member were able to clear the bar on a second try, but he came in 21st and failed to make it into the final competition.

In more Olympic news, U.S. gymnast Gabby Douglas fired back at her critics who noted her refusal to put her hand over her heart during the National Anthem, and her apparent lack of enthusiasm for teammates Simone Biles and Aly Raisman, notes the Los Angeles Times.

"I support them and I’m sorry that I wasn’t showing it," Douglas stated on August 14, after her last event.

"And I should have but for me, it’s been a lot," Douglas added. "And I’ve been through a lot. I still love the people who love me. Still love them who hate me. I've just got to stand on that."

Douglas also wondered why people were upset because she didn't put her hand over her heart during the anthem, as all of her teammates did.

Douglas noted that she stood at attention during the anthem, but did not explain why she didn't do the hand part.

"For me, when you go through a lot and you have so many difficulties and people against you, sometimes it just determines your character," Douglas added. "Are you going to stand or are you going to crumble? In the face of everything, still stand."

Douglas did not say what her "many difficulties" were, but she was nicknamed #CrabbyGabby on social media because of what was perceived as a bad attitude throughout the Games.
