The LA2024 Olympic Bid Committee recently released a video (below) as a marketing tool to woo the 2024 Summer Olympics to Los Angeles.
In the video, Los Angeles is called the "Western Capital of the U.S.," "Northern Capital of Latin America” and the "Eastern Capital of the Pacific Rim," notes The Hollywood Reporter.
The Los Angeles Times reported in July that the U.S. Census Bureau said that, as of July 1, 2014, there were about 14.99 million Latinos in California, and 14.92 million whites.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti states on the LA24 website:
"Hosting the Games in Los Angeles would give our city the chance to show the world how much has changed in 40 years...
"This bid is a bold vision for an innovative, sustainable and inspiring Los Angeles 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games that will benefit our community, the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Movement. We have a lot of work ahead, but we are excited with the opportunity to bring the world’s greatest sporting event back to our great city."
