An unemployed Japanese man became enraged after his mother urged him to get a job before she retires, police said.
Takahiro Miki, 42, was arrested by Tokyo police for allegedly stabbing his 74-year-old mother by using a kitchen knife at their apartment in Tokyo’s Adachi Ward, according to Japan Today.
The 42-year-old man has been charged with one count of attempted murder.
According to police, Miki attacked his mother as she was getting ready to go to work on June 26. He reportedly then grabbed a kitchen knife and slashed his mother’s throat.
Police said the elderly woman was in stable condition at a hospital.
WordWide Weird News reported that during questioning, Miki told investigators that two days before his mother was hospitalized, she told him she did not know how much energy she had left to work. All she wanted was for her son to find a job before she retires.
Miki’s mother told him: “I don’t know how long I will be well enough to work, so I need you to get a job as well.”
