ISIS Video Purports To Show Execution Of Russian Intelligence Agent

A video has been released by the terrorist group Islamic State (ISIS) showing the decapitation of a Russian prisoner who was allegedly working for Russian intelligence.

The video comes from Raqqa, an ISIS stronghold, and was entitled “You Shall be Disappointed and Humiliated O Russians,” Daily Mail reported.

The prisoner, dressed in an orange jumpsuit, confesses to being an agent of the FSB, Russia’s intelligence service, and says he was sent to Syria to gather information on Russians fighting for the group.

The man identifies himself as a 23-year-old from Grozny, and adds that he reached Islamic State territory by traveling through Turkey, RT reported.

He claims to have been working in areas controlled by ISIS since August 2014.

The ISIS member, who speaks in Russian in the video, issues a warning to the Russian population and President Vladimir Putin during the 8-minute film.

“You will not find peace in your homes. We will kill your sons ... for each son you killed here. And we will destroy your homes for each home you destroyed here,” he said, according to Daily Mail.

Towards the end of the video, the footage moves from a darkened room to an outside scene. The prisoner is seen kneeling down, before the ISIS member slits his throat.

the FSB and Kremlin have not commented on the video, and its authenticity has not yet been verified.

Russian warplanes began bombing ISIS targets in Syria Sept. 30, following an attack by the terrorist group on a commercial airliner over Egypt, which killed more than 200 passengers.

Moscow announced that its air strikes have significantly weakened ISIS, cutting the group’s illegal oil trade in half--to $1.5 million per day--and striking ammunition dumps and ISIS infrastructure, according to RT.

However, the air strikes are causing considerable collateral damage, including civilian deaths, according to Time. In October, Russian strikes killed between 250 and 375 non-combatants in what was described as a “conservative estimate.”
