The terrorist group Islamic State accused a man identified as Ziad Abdel’al Abu Tarek of being a spy for Syria. Tarek, who said he is from Al-Qaryatayn, a town in central Syria, recently appeared in a video produced by ISIS where he appeared bruised and weary.
Tarek was required to admit he was a spy on camera and detailed his actions. “I killed Abu Hassan and the Islamic State came and captured me,” he concluded. He was then shown walking barefoot in an apparently rural area with a pick axe and a shovel, set with the grim task of digging his own grave.
A truck bearing the ISIS flag came up behind him and the video cut to a shot of Tarek kneeling in front of an executioner, who apparently beheaded him.
There is no word on whether or not Tarek was actually a spy.
