Islamic State Poured Acid On Women's Faces For Not Wearing A Niqab In Public

An Islamic State policing unit has severely disfigured the faces of 15 Iraqi women by pouring acid on them because they were not covering their faces properly, ABNA reports.

The Al Khansa brigade, an all-female policing unit in the terror group's Syrian stronghold of Raqqa and Iraqi stronghold of Mosul, carried out the act in the Mosul neighborhood of Salamiya.

The women were detained because they were caught in public not wearing a niqab, the cloth veil that is traditionally worn by some women in Arab countries to cover their faces.

Al Khansa decided to make an example out of these women by pouring acid on their faces, an official from the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Mosul told the media.

“They have implemented this punishment so that other women in the city will never consider removing or not wearing the niqab,” Saed Mamuzini said.

Islamic State is also reportedly beheading people for doing something as simple as smoking a cigarette
