A baby in India who was born with eight limbs is being hailed as the reincarnation of a Hindu god.
The baby, born in Jharkhand, India, on April 18, has a severe birth defect that left him with two extra arms and two extra legs. Though it is believed the defect was the result of an underdeveloped conjoined twin, many throughout India are convinced child is the reincarnation of Hindu god Ganesha.
Ganesha, one of most widely worshiped and iconic gods of the Hindu faith, is represented with four extra limbs and generally depicted as an elephant.
Believer Kuntalesh Pandey said he traveled 72 miles to see the baby after a friend told him about its astonishing condition.
“When a friend first sent me a picture I wrote it off as photoshopped,” Pandey admitted, “but when he confirmed that it is real I came to see the baby straight away.”
