Girl Burned Alive Used Last Words To Forgive Killers

A Christian girl in Mosul, Iraq, whose home was set on fire by ISIS militants uttered one last message as she lay dying in her mother's arms: Forgive them.

The girl, thought to be 12 years old, was reportedly in the shower of her home when militants showed up and demanded her mother pay a tax or leave, according to the Mirror.

The mother offered to pay but asked the ISIS members to wait until her daughter got out of the shower.  The fighters refused to wait and set the bathroom the girl was in on fire while she was still inside.

Jacqueline Isaac, vice president of human rights advocacy group Road of Success, spoke about the episode during a conference on Christian experience and persecution in April 2016.

She related the conversation: "The ISIS foreign fighters were at her door and they told her 'you have two choices, you are to leave now or you are to pay the jizya.' She said, 'I will pay, give me a few seconds my daughter is in the shower.' They said 'you don’t have a few seconds' and they lit the house with a torch from the bathroom the daughter was showering in."

The girl and her mother escaped the burning home, but the girl later died in hospital.

A spokesman for Open Doors told The Express, "Sadly this is just one more example of the atrocities being committed by extremists in this region, but I regularly hear of incredible stories of faith like this where Christians forgive their persecutors."
