See It: Brazilian Garbage Man Drags Injured Dog Across Road, Throws It Into Truck (Photos)

A garbage man in Brazil has been fired after pictures surfaced of him dragging an injured dog along the street and throwing him into a garbage truck where he may have been crushed alive.

Jadson James Franca, 35, reportedly hit the dog with the garbage truck when he drove up a raised area of pavement in Presidente Figueiredo, Brazil.

Franca then stopped the truck and got out, tied a chain around the dog’s neck — who now appeared to have two broken legs — and dragged him to the truck, The Daily Mail reports. The dog was then allegedly thrown into the garbage truck. Franca's coworkers can be seen in the photos idly standing by while he commits the animal abuse.

A local photographer took photos of Franca’s actions and posted them online.

The dog was reportedly found alive when the truck arrived later at the garbage dump but died of its severe injuries hours later.

Brazilian TV presenter Xuxa shared the photos to her 4.4 million Facebook followers, calling for action to be taken against Franca.

“This little dog, who wasn't bothering anyone, had its legs broken, and in agony was tied up and dragged by the neck, before being brutally murdered by this individual, being thrown and crushed alive in the back of the garbage truck. This monster can still appeal against a fine and will still be walking the streets in freedom! Are we going to let that happen?? Let's do something?? Together we can,” Xuxa wrote.

Presidente Figueiredo's Mayor, Neilson da Cruz, announced that Franca had been fired from his position and that the company he worked for, ViaLimpa, would have to pay an unspecified fine.

Additionally, da Cruz commented on the upsetting reality that no one tried to stop Franca.

“These people are more preoccupied with making recordings that with saving the animals. This is an absurdity,” da Cruz told Brazil's A Critica newspaper.

Franca has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty, reports The Independent. He said he was acting out of kindness towards the animal because he was “suffering greatly," according to police chief Valnei Silva.
