Banks in Greece were closed on June 29 because the Greek government is facing a financial crisis.
Greece pulled out of bailout negotiations with the European Union on June 26, so the European Central Bank announced on June 28 the country would receive no new support for its banks. This means Greece could default on its loan payments to the International Monetary Fund later in the week.
As a result, Greek citizens are limited to 60 euros, equal to about $67, in ATM withdrawals per day, noted CNN Money.
CNN's Richard Quest was doing a live report from Greece on June 29 when an angry woman went after him and had to be held back, although she did manage to grab his arm momentarily, reports Uproxx.
