Three Palestinian men were killed on Feb. 19 in separate attacks on Israeli forces.

The first attack occurred in Jerusalem’s Old City, The Associated Press reports. Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said the 20-year-old Palestinian “walked through Damascus Gate and then turned around with a knife in his hand, ran at the officers and attacked them."

Both officers were injured in the attack. One officer sustained knife wounds to the head, while the other was cut in the hand during his struggle with the attacker before shooting him dead.

The two other attacks took place in the West Bank.

A Palestinian crashed his car into Israeli troops during a “violent riot” near the city of Ramallah, according to the military. Troops opened fire on the man and killed him.

In Bethlehem, two Palestinians shot at soldiers, the military said. One was killed when the soldiers returned fire, the other wounded.

Attacks by Palestinians against civilians and security personnel have been a constant problem in Israel recently. Since mid-September 2015, 28 Israelis have been killed. At least 165 Palestinians have been killed by Israelis during the same period, the majority said by Israel to be attackers, according to AP. The others died while clashing with security forces.

U.S. citizen Tuvia Yanai Weissman, a combat sergeant in the Israel Defense Forces’s Nahal Brigade, died on Feb. 18 while trying to stop two Palestinian teenagers from stabbing shoppers at a supermarket in the Binyamin region of the West Bank, The Jerusalem Post reports.

“You are a true hero," his wife Yael Weissman said at his funeral. "You didn’t have a gun, but still you ran [toward the attackers] without thinking twice," she added. Yael was in another part of the store with their infant daughter when the attack occurred.

“I always knew that if something happened you would be the first person to respond,” Yael said addressing the hundreds of mourners.

Tuvia was stabbed in the upper part of his body during the attack and succumbed to his injuries after being treated at a hospital.

Another shopper shot and wounded the two teenagers. They are both being treated in Jerusalem medical centers.
