Pastor Robert Jeffress of the First Baptist Church of Dallas warned his parishioners on June 28 that the legalization of same-sex marriage by the U.S. Supreme Court and the White House's rainbow light show on June 26 were signs of the End Times (video below).
According to RightWingWatch.org, Jeffress called the same-sex ruling “the greatest, most historic, landmark blunder in the history of the United States Supreme Court,” and "nothing more than an affront in the face of Almighty God."
Jeffress added that the rainbow colors on the White House "represent what the Bible calls degradation, depravity and sexual perversion.”
The megachurch leader warned that his church is “not going to be intimidated, we are not going to be silenced by the liberal left, Barack Obama or the United States Supreme Court! We are going to continue sharing the love and truth of Jesus Christ!"
Jeffress provided no evidence of silencing or intimidation taking place.
Jeffress, clearly angry, added, "We’re not despondent, we’re not discouraged in the least because everything that happened Friday (June 26) is simply confirmation of what the Bible says is going to happen before the return of Jesus Christ.”
Jeffress tried to link the erotic book/film "Fifty Shades of Grey" to the End back in February on Alan Colmes' radio show, noted Mediaite.com (video below).
Jeffress, who says he hasn't read the book, stated:
"And I think we're seeing that everywhere, whether it is the attempt to change the most basic unit of society, the family and marriage by redefinition of marriage. Or the acceptance of perversion. You know, this 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' or Fifty Shades of Perversion. I think that's symptomatic of what is happening."
Later in the show, Jeffress stated:
"I just think this movie may represent a new low in popular entertainment. That's all I'm saying. And I'm just saying that the Bible prophesied that in the End Times, there will be a lack of moral restraint. And I think we're seeing that manifested in so many different ways."
