Video: Rep. Maxine Waters: ‘The Tea Party Can Go Straight to Hell!’

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) lit a political firestorm during a forum for unemployed people in Inglewood, California this weeked when she voiced her feelings about the Tea Party (video below). Waters and other lawmakers at the event were faced with a series of questions from residents about what the government can do to fuel job creation.

“The tea party can go to hell,” said Waters, as she urged her colleagues in Congress to focus more on creating jobs. “I’m not afraid of anybody. This is a tough game. You can’t be intimidated. You can’t be frightened.”

Mark Meckler and Jenny Beth Martin, of the Tea Party Patriots, told Fox News that President Obama should step in to cool down Congresswoman Waters. "We've had Democrats calling American citizens 'terrorists' and 'hostage takers,' and now an elected Democratic representative says that we can 'go straight to hell.'"

They added, "The president and all leaders of the Democratic Party, who have called for civility in the past, are neglecting to censure their own. Is civility only required from their opponents?" they asked in a statement. "Perhaps it's time for a new-NEW era of civility. ... The president's silence on these latest violations of civility has been deafening, but not surprising."

Congreswoman Waters has been on the warpath lately. Last week, she told a Detroit crowd that she was frustrated with the Obama administration's approach to the economy, urging voters to "unleash" her on the White House.
