Top 10 Women in Technology in 2011

The field of technology used to be solely the domain of men, but as the years went on women wanted in on the act, to point where now they are just as influential as their male counterparts.

The folks over at FastCompany.com noticed the emergence of the fairer sex and two years ago began an annual list called "The Most Influential Women in Tech."

Instead of the traditional top ten list that we all know and love, Fast Company chooses to highlight 30 women, broken up into six categories.

Here is the top finisher in each category in 2011 (sorry for the misleading headline!). You can see you full list here:

The Entrepreneurs:

Limor Fried, Founder, Adafruit Industries

The Gamers:

Kellee Santiago, President, That Game Company

The Brainiacs:

Jennifer Aaker, General Atlantic Professor of Marketing, Stanford GSB

The Advocates:

Telle Whitney, President, Anita Borg Institute

The Media:

Nicole Goodyear, CEO, Brickfish

The Executives:

Carolyn Leighton, Founder, Women in Tech Intl
