Grandma Freaks Out While Trying Oculus Rift Virtual Reality Headset (Video)


Game developer Matt Rix uploaded a video (below) to YouTube on Sunday showing his 90-year-old grandmother trying on the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, which uses 3D imaging and head tracking for a virtual reality effect (video below).

“Oh man, it’s so real!” said the grandmother. “Oh, this is something else. And I’m still sitting where I was? Holy mackerel! I’m amazed. I don’t believe I’m seeing this. Heavens. Holy mackerel. This is unbelievable. I’ll remember this all the rest of my life."

The Oculus Rift debuted at the CES conference in January (video below).

According to, the original model for Oculus Rift was created from leftover parts in the garage of Palmer Luckey, who was trying to build affordable Virtual reality gear.

His small company turned to to crowd-fund $250,000 but raised $2,437,429 in August of 2012.
