We Still Don't Know Who Jose Aldo Will Fight at UFC 149
UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo was announced as the main event for UFC 149 on July 21 last month. However, at that time, the UFC declined to name an opponent for "Scarface."
Now, some 20 days later, and Aldo is still in the dark in regards to who he will be defending his title against. UFC 149 takes place from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
"The fight is confirmed for this date, but I don't have a clue about the name," said Andre Pederneiras, manager for Aldo, in a recent interview with Tatame.com. "I have no idea, but there are like five, six names...We're waiting for anyone."
Hatsu Hioki has been the most talked about name to fill the blank spot, as he is regarded as the No. 2 featherweight in the world. Hioki, however, has said he'd prefer at least one more match in the UFC before stepping inside the Octagon with Aldo.
Other names floating around include the winner of Chan Sung Jung-Dustin Poirier, as they meet in the main event of UFC on FUEL TV 3a. However, that would allow the winner only a couple of months to prepare for Aldo should that become a No. 1 contender match.
