Video: U.S. Team Chokes Away Ryder Cup to Europe in Spectacular Fashion

Thirteen years after the U.S. Team came back from a 10-6 deficit to hand their European counterparts an unexpected defeat, the European side finally exacted their revenge. When it was all said and done on Sunday, Rory McIlroy, Martin Kaymer and the rest of his team, somehow, battled back from a seemingly insurmountable hole (although, in retrospect, it obviously wasn’t) to claim a 14 ½-13 ½ win.

This embarrassing loss can be attributed to a lot of different things. The Americans’ inability to handle business on 17 and 18. The fact that they didn’t (or, really, couldn’t) take out the Europeans for good on Saturday. The Phil Mickelson and Jim Furyk choke jobs. Steve Stricker being Steve Stricker.

In the end, though, it doesn’t really matter. All that matters is the final result – and the final result says that the U.S. team wound up on the wrong end of history today.

This one will sting for a while.

Check out Kaymer’s final shot and the lowlights from the American collapse in the videos below.
