Sports has provided Saturday Night Live with some great material over the years. When SNL’s writers were somehow able to turn the Penn State child rape scandal into comedic fodder, it became crystal clear that any time a crossover, mainstream-esque sports story hit the national newswire, it was fair game for Lorne Michaels’ squad.
This week, as you would expect, the SNL crew hit Lance Armstrong and Manti Te’o as hard as they possibly could. One spent a decade mercilessly bullying anyone who accused him of doping before confessing to doing just that this week; the other was involved in a fake dead girlfriend hoax. The jokes pertaining to both wrote themselves, really.
