The most frantic sequence of basketball we saw on Monday night, fittingly enough, happened within the final 10 seconds of UConn and Villanova's epic showdown.
Following a clutch Ty Johnson make that knotted the game at 70 all with just under six seconds remaining in the outing, Shabazz Napier took the ball just slightly past the half court mark and put up a long three that swished through the net with half a second remaining.
It was appropriate that Napier took the reins and got his team the victory on Monday night, given the fact that he was the squad's staunchest critic after their Saturday loss to Marquette. Angry and frustrated at what he perceived to be a lack of effort, he went so far as to question his teammates’ heart and their work ethic all in one series of ill-advised comments following the conclusion of that game.
If there is one really good way to apologize, though, you have to figure it would be giving your team a hard-fought 73-70 victory on a silver platter.
