The 2012 Olympics produced a lot of American stars, but none of them earned as much attention as the women’s gymnastics team. Coming out of the London Games, the Fierce Five were everywhere. Colbert. Leno. Today Show. You name it – they were featured on it. Over the past month or so, however, the group has slowly faded out of the limelight. Because they aren’t competing on the national stage anymore, and because the public’s attention span is about three seconds, everyone -- besides maybe McKayla Maroney -- began to vanish from the public scene as quickly as they entered it.
Until this past Monday night.
Yesterday, on a special episode of Dancing With the Stars, the Fierce Five made their triumphant national television return when they appeared with Shawn Johnson during one particular routine. Check it out:
Afterward, Maroney said this of possibly appearing on a future season: "I'd definitely love it. All the Fierce Five would think Dancing With the Stars would be an amazing experience."
If the Fierce Five really did appear on a future season of DWTS, it would mark the first time since its inception that the show actually featured five legit stars.
