Manny Pacquiao’s stunning loss to Juan Manuel Marquez caught a lot of fans off guard. It wasn’t so much that the Filipino superstar lost, it was moreso how he lost. Tons of people thought that Marquez had one-upped him in the past, but seeing Pacquiao collapse to the mat face first understandably shook even his most vocal critics.
It’s rare to see a top-tier pound-for-pounder fall from grace that quickly.
Understandably, the biggest question that bubbled up to the surface following that bout was: can Pacquiao bounce back from this? Returning from a loss like the one he sustained versus Timothy Bradley is one thing; getting dropped with the whole world watching, with your wife crying, with your haters laughing – that’s a whole different animal.
Recently, in an interview with ProBoxingInsider.com (via DoghouseBoxing.com), Jeff Mayweather (Floyd Mayweather’s uncle) suggested that maybe Pacquiao wouldn’t be able to bounce back from his defeat.
Check it out:
What do you think: is there any merit to what Mayweather is suggesting?
