A fight involving London Fletcher’s family reportedly broke out during Sunday’s showdown between the Washington Redskins and Cleveland Browns.
According to NewsNet5, Fletcher’s cousins Hasaan Robinson and Douglas Robinson along with his nephew were arrested by security officers for apparently engaging some angry Browns fans. (The Redskins were on the road.) As if the fight allegations weren’t bad enough, Fletcher’s 57-year-old aunt, Evette Robinson, is said to have suffered a heart attack during the melee and apparently had to be rushed to hospital.
The RGIII-less Redskins ultimately won this game, so that may go some ways in explaining why the Browns fans purportedly involved were so ridiculously rowdy.
"I'm from Cleveland. I know Browns fans. They're rabid fans and they love their team," Fletcher said after the game.
"But I guess in the stadium, (my family was) being harassed. The situation that led to people being arrested was stadium security. One of the stadium security guys assaulted one of my family members. So instead of diffusing the situation, he escalated the situation.
"It's my understanding from the moment they got out of their car, (my family members) were harassed by Browns fans and things like that, even all the way up into the stadium," Fletcher added. "(I) had a 13-year-old cousin who was hit in the face prior to the game. ... He wasn't hurt like that, he is OK.
"Still details are emerging, but this is the understanding that I have gotten, so it's an ongoing legal situation and we'll be moving forward."
