There were a lot of surprising end results in the NBA last night, but very few of the games actually featured battles between equals. The Brooklyn Nets and Oklahoma City Thunder were the lone exception to that. Both of these squads are legitimate championship contenders right now, and both were clearly looking to make a statement on Tuesday.
Ultimately, Kevin Durant and Thunder prevailed – earning a huge 117-111 road victory over Deron Williams and the Nets.
Durant led the way for his side with 32 points (nine-of-16 shooting), five assists and five rebounds. Russell Westbrook chipped in 25 points (nine-of-17 shooting) and nine assists. Four out of five Thunder starters finished in double figures. (Kendrick Perkins with the lone exception, of course.)
Meanwhile, Williams led all scorers with 33 points (10-of-20 shooting) and seven assists. All five Nets starters finished in double figures, but obviously it wasn’t enough.
