Some things are worth the wait.
New York Mets pitcher Johan Santana threw his franchise’s first ever no-hitter in an 8-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night. In doing so, he ended an unfortunate, terrible curse that had been haunting the Mets for 8,019 games and over 50 years.
All in all, Santana struck out eight, walked five and did his damage in a grand total of 134 pitches. The no-hitter didn’t come in the most dominating of fashions, and admittedly did come with a certain amount of controversy – but there are no asterisks in the record books.
