James Harden’s return to Oklahoma City generated a lot of hype, but it really shouldn’t have. The Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder are two very different teams right now. The latter is a championship contender; the former is a young group on the come up. Houston’s time will come, there is no doubt about it. However, it isn’t going to come this year.
OKC ultimately beat down their opposition 120-98 on Wednesday night.
Kevin Durant led all scorers with 43 points on 13-of-22 shooting. Serge Ibaka and Russell Westbrook pitched in 23 points and 14 points, respectively. Kevin Martin, the guy who was brought in to replace Harden’s production, had 17 points off the bench.
Patrick Patterson led the way for Houston with 27 points. Harden had 17 points on an atrocious three-of-16 from the field. Jeremy Lin had six points and eight assists.
