The Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets are two teams heading in very different directions. After a shockingly great start, the latter squad has dropped six of their last eight games – with half of those losses coming at home. Conversely, after an embarrassing 1-4 start that got their head coach fired, the Lakers seem to have regained their footing. They are 4-1 since Mike Brown being shown the door, and Mike D’Antoni’s debut on Tuesday (maybe) should stabilize the team even further.
As most figured would be the case, Los Angeles trounced Houston (at Staples) 119-108 on Sunday night. Dwight Howard led the way for the winning squad with 28 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks; Kobe Bryant had 22 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds.
James Harden had 20 points on seven-of-18 shooting for the Rockets. Jeremy Lin struggled scoring-wise, putting up five points on two-of-nine shooting – but he did rack up 10 assists.
