Video: Jack Taylor Scores 138 Points During Grinnell College vs. Faith Baptist Bible

Jack Taylor, a sophomore out of Grinnell College, set the basketball world ablaze on Tuesday night after he scored 138 points in a 179-104 victory over Faith Baptist Bible. No, that is not a typo – he legitimately scored 138 points.

As you would expect, Taylor’s ridiculous output required that he attempt a crazy number of shots. (Afterward, world-renowned ballhog Carmelo Anthony said: “How can you shoot 100 times, though?”) When it was all said and done, Taylor attempted 108 shots and connected on 52 of them. (The rest of his team attempted 28, total.) He hit 27 of 71 three-pointers and seven of 10 free throws en route to his eventual total.

The most interesting thing about this game, though? Faith Baptist’s David Larson had 70 points on 34-of-44 shooting. Now that’s impressive.

Prior to Tuesday, the NCAA’s single game scoring record was held by Rio Grande’s Bevo Francis. He scored 113 points in 1954.
