Here is the scenario: the Sacramento Kings are down by one with ten seconds remaining. New Orleans is inbounding the ball, and whoever gets fouled will probably nail at least one of the free throws – which in turn means the Kings will need at the very least a clutch two but probably a clutch three in response. Sacramento has a bevy of scorers, but it's also not exactly a team you typically rely on for good late game execution.
So the Kings are done, right? Wrong. Enter: Isaiah Thomas.
With ten seconds on the clock and the Hornets inbounding the ball, Thomas stepped up his defensive intensity and was able to knock the ball loose. Stealing the ball and making sure to have a solid grip on it are admirable enough feats in themselves, but Thomas also put a cherry atop the whole thing by delivering a perfect pass to a cutting John Salmons for what would eventually be the Kings’ game-winning basket.
