Video: Harry Reid Compares Republicans to the New York Jets

It’s no secret that Republicans and Democrats have trouble getting along sometimes. And by sometimes, of course, I mean all the time. They have trouble getting along all the time.

That being said, the animosity they have towards one another is no reason for either side to resort to low blows. If they have substantive problems with each other – so be it. But needlessly provoking folks across the aisle with mean-spirited shots? That’s just unnecessary. And yet that is exactly what Senator Harry Reid opted to do recently.

While speaking on the Senate floor, the mild-mannered Majority Leader from Nevada took one of the cruelest shots at Republicans in recent memory when he compared their budget proposal to the New York Jets’ quarterback situation.

“Coach (Rex) Ryan — he’s got a problem,” Reid said (via Larry Brown Sports). “He’s got three quarterbacks. (Mark) Sanchez, he’s got Tim Tebow, and he’s got a guy by the name of (Greg) McElroy. He can’t decide who their quarterback is going to be. That’s the same problem the Republicans are having.

“Romney’s gone, but he’s still in the background. Who is the quarterback, Mr. President? My friend talks about the trillions of dollars of debt. Mr. President, we just had an election. The people overwhelmingly know why we have this deficit.”

Being compared to the growing disaster at MetLife is without a doubt worse than losing the White House to President Obama.
