Video: Duke Makes a Statement with Big Win over Ohio State

Last night, after one half of action, writers all over America were mentally preparing to bury Duke. Getting outhustled by Ohio State at home on the heels of receiving universal acclaim for being the nation’s second best team? There was no way the Blue Devils would be permitted to get away with that. Fortunately for Coach K, in the second half, his team broke out of the funk that been hampering it and took the Buckeyes to school.

In the end, the numbers paint a very clear picture: these two teams were even on the glass and at the free throw line. Where was the big disparity? Ability to score. Duke shot 47 percent from the field and 41 percent from behind the arc; Ohio State shot 34 percent from the field and 29 percent from behind the arc.

Mason Plumlee led the way for Duke with 21 points (on six-of-11 shooting) and 17 rebounds. Rasheed Sulaimon and Ryan Kelly pitched in 17 and 15, respectively. When it was all said and done, four out of five Blue Devils starters finished in double figures.

Meanwhile, Deshaun Thomas led the way for the losing side with 16 points on six-of-14 shooting. Aaron Craft and Lenzelle Smith had 11 apiece.
