Chelsea won their first Champions League crown in improbable fashion on Saturday, ultimately defeating Bayern Munich via a penalty kick shootout, 4-3. For a while, or more specifically, in the five-minute span between the Thomas Muller goal that put Bayern Munich up 1-0 and Didier Drogba's eventual equalizer, it looked as if Chelsea would go down in a heartbreaker. When Drogba came through with the clutchest of clutch plays, though, you could almost feel the tide of momentum turning. Suddenly, Chelsea was alive again.
After 120 minutes of action, it all came down to this shootout (via The Big Lead):
Chelsea’s win marked the first time that a London club won the European cup.
