A lot of people anticipated that Sunday’s showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens would be the most interesting battle of the week. They were right. Ultimately this game came down to Michael Vick coming through big when it mattered most and Joe Flacco, well, not. But even though any and all reviews of this outing will inevitably be centered around the offensive leaders of the teams involved, one particular play from a non-star deserves mention. (His 157 yards for the day is nothing to sneeze at either.)
In the third quarter, with his squad down by three and in desperate need of some yardage, the Eagles’ Brent Celek did this to Ed Reed:
Obviously nobody is going to remember it in the grand scheme of everything that happened today, but Celek’s hurdle over Reed would definitely be a bigger deal if you replaced the name “Brent Celek” with that of a more well known tight end.
