Video: Adam Greenberg Gets His 2nd Career Major League At-Bat During Marlins-Mets
A hit to the head during his first professional at-bat seven years ago cost Adam Greenberg would could have been a solid major league baseball career.
One shot in the pro ranks – that was all he ever got.
Until this week.
On Tuesday, in front of a solid Marlins Park crowd, Greenberg got his second chance to make an impression. Thanks in part to a major public campaign and in part to the Marlins desperately wanting some good publicity, the man who figured he would never get another pro at-bat again got at least one more.
The end result? Well, the end result was a strikeout. But you have to figure that this experience was never really about that one particular at-bat. This experience was about a.) Greenberg proving to himself that he could, somehow, get at least one more swing in the big leagues and, b.) getting other clubs to take a look at him. (He admitted the latter to Dan Patrick on Wednesday morning.) In that regard – mission accomplished.
"It was magical," Greenberg told ESPN of the experience. "The energy in the stadium was something I never experienced, and I don't know if I will ever experience it again. You could just feel the genuine support. It was awesome."
(Kudos ABC)
