USMNT coach Jurgen Klinsmann added 11 more players to the camp roster that will be training in Orlando until May 25th for the upcoming 5 matches. Our boys have put together four straight wins, most recently against the always powerful Italian squad. Things have been quiet recently and Klinsmann is excited to get the ball rolling again as players will be reporting as they complete their club duties. This month long training schedule will simulate that of a tournament schedule, with additional focus on team ball movement and nutrition.
“We are excited now to get towards full numbers with the MLS guys and also the players from Europe who are coming in with great form," said Klinsmann. "We want them to pick up the rhythm as fast as possible and make them understand that we are taking the next couple weeks very seriously. We will continue with our rhythm of two trainings a day and see where the players are really at before we make our final decisions on the 23-man roster for the upcoming games."
With Landon Donovan back in the mix for the first time since September 2011, exciting things are sure to follow. The player pool has certainly grown and many players’ stocks are on the rise due to club team successes. After this training camp concludes the USMNT will head to Jacksonville to face off against Scotland on May 26th and the match we have all been waiting for against 5-time World Cup champions, Brazil, will take place on May 30th in Landover, MD.
