By the time Sir Alex sits down and tucks into his Christmas meal, his Manchester United team could have taken this season’s title race by the baubles.
United’s next two league games will see clashes against title contenders Arsenal and Chelsea. Six points from the two games will put United a couple of lengths clear in the race, as they look to reclaim the title from Chelsea and Fergie will be well justified in cracking open a couple of bottles of good Bordeaux.
First up in this crunch run is Arsenal, who visit Old Trafford next Monday for what promises to be a cracker of a match. Although the Gunners overcame a spirited Fulham side last weekend to take their place at the top of the table, United will go into the match as favourites and the football odds reflect this.
Sir Alex’s troops will be itching to get back into league action after seeing last weekend’s trip to Blackpool postponed due to the snowy conditions and a lack of under-soil heating, it was a shame as everyone made Manchester United betting tips to win the game and the three points would have been nice.
After taking on the Gunners’, United head down to London for their match at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea on the 19th. Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted he’s currently suffering from sleepless nights due to his side’s lack of form at the moment and it could get worse by the time United have finished with them.
The champions initially burst out of the blocks this season, scoring 12 goals from their opening two matches and taking maximum points from their first five games. It’s been a horrendous time recently for the Londoners and they have gone four Premier League games without a win. That could be about to change though as Frank Lampard nears full fitness. The midfielder has been missing for much of the past two months and is eyeing up the United match as a possible return date.
