UFC on FX 5 Round-by-Round Review: Marcus LeVesseur vs. Carlo Prater

Round 1: LeVesseur comes swinging but Prater ducks under and clinches with LeVesseur against the cage. Prater trying to get a trip but the standout college wrestler LeVesseur doing a nice job defending.

LeVesseur ends up getting a trip of his own but Prater is just clinching on the mat. Josh Rosenthal not seeing enough action and stands them up. Prater pulls guard and is pressed up against the cage with LeVesseur on his feet. Prater going for the guillotine which finished LeVesseur in his last fight. LeVesseur manages to escape as the two clinch again before the bell.

Fightline scores the round 10-9 for Prater

Round 2: LeVesseur connects with a right hand but Prater clinches again, avoiding his opponent's power. Working a few knees here is the Brazilian. The two break and LeVesseur lands another shot. LeVesseur comes in with an uppercut, looking more comfortable on the feet but Prater locks up again and takes the clinch against the cage. LeVesseur gets a takedown and Prater moves to the guillotine quickly. Not fully locked in here though as LeVesseur signs to the ref that he's OK. LeVesseur pull Prater's hand away and gets out before landing a series of strikes. LeVesseur gets a powerful double leg but Prater goes for a stalling guillotine.

Round 3: The two trade a few high kicks before clinching once again. Either man's fight to win at this point. LeVesseur throwing big uppercuts almost out of frustration but can't avoid a lockup from Prater yet again. Rosenthal steps in to break them up. Halfway through the final frame as Prater connects with a nice head kick. Prater pulls guard trying that guillotine once again. LeVesseur postures up and looks to pepper his opponent in top position. Round ends with yet another guillotine attempt.
