Mike Pierce vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha

Round 1: Rocha throws a knee in the clinch as they both grapple for position. Both continue to remain locked against the cage. Classic grinding from Pierce who secures the takedown. Rocha controlling the wrist of Pierce who stands up for good measure, not wanting to engage the jiu-jitsu expert on the ground. Pierce has him against the cage again and landing a few glancing knees and elbows as the round comes to a close.

Round 2: Mike Pierce clinches again and moves him to the fence. Superior grappling and positioning against Rocha who uses all his force to avoid a takedown. Rocha now goes for a calf slicer but gives it up quickly. Pierce gets another takedown and carefully works the ground and pound from butterfly guard. Lost of respect shown against the Brazilian. Rocha throws a few strikes of his own from the bottom but struggling to get anything going from the guard. Round ends with Pierce grinding against the fence again.

Round 3: More of the same here as Pierce gets the clinch and backs Rocha against the fence. Pierce peppers Rocha with a few body shots and the boos start to trickle down from the Florida fans for the lack of action. Pierce maintains the over-under position continuing to work the dirty boxing. Referee stands them up and Pierce gets a strong single leg. It seems that the threat of a Rocha submission has prevented Pierce from getting too aggressive on the ground. Throwing a few shots as Rocha tries to control his wrists. Pierce slipping in more shots, going body head for a little. Pierce now stacking Rocha and lands the biggest punches of the night.
