UFC on FUEL TV 6 Round-by-Round Review: Takanori Gomi vs. Mac Danzig
We remain in the lightweight division, as former Pride champion Takanori Gomi (33-8) battles Mac Danzig (21-9-1). Steve Perceval will be the third man inside the Octagon.
Round 1: Several kicks to start by both fighters, as Gomi slides in first and lands a right. Body shot by Gomi, who appears to have found his range with a head-body combo. Danzig ties up Gomi with a clinch and lands some nice knees. Gomi answers with a takedown. Danzig works the head to get back to his feet, as Gomi is forced to let go of the takedown. Danzig gets clipped, but continues to move forward into the range of Gomi. Nice leg kick-head-strike combo from Gomi, who is throwing everything much quicker than Danzig. Another combo from Gomi. Left hook lands by Danzig and Gomi switches stances. Danzig follows up with a single-leg takedown to conclude the round.

Round 2: Danzig appears content to stand and trade with Gomi despite his excellent wrestling skills. Gomi continues to pick Danzig apart, using his quick striking and constant level changes. Straight left from Gomi connects, as Danzig answers. Gomi misses with a right, and Danzig is unable to get the takedown. We go under two minutes, and Danzig lands a right but misses a front-kick attempt. Danzig with a 2-1 combo and follows up with a takedown. Danzig controlling Gomi in half-guard and Danzig locks in a guillotine, but Gomi fights out of it. Gomi rolls back into the guillotine but he will survive the round.

Round 3: And again, the ref tells the fighters to not leave it in the hands of the judges. Gomi drops Danzig with a combo and goes into attack mode on the mat. Gomi in half-guard, as he attempts to earn his first win streak since joining the UFC. Danzig attempts a heel-hook as Gomi goes for a figure-four lock, but neither is successful and Gomi winds up back in the guard of Danzig. Back standing and Danzig catches Gomi on the exit with a left. Big right by Danzig lands to the chin of Gomi, as does a knee. Gomi telling Danzig to bring it, and he does, but smartly. Danzig denied on a takedown attempt but lands some nice dirty boxing inside the clinch. Gomi misses with a huge uppercut but lands a jab.
