UFC on FUEL TV 4 Round-by-Round Review: Marcelo Guimaraes vs Dan Stittgen

The UFC debut of welterweight Marcelo Guimaraes (7-0-1) is next, as he takes on Dan Stittgen (7-2). The third man inside the Octagon will be Josh Rosenthal.

Round 1: The two exchange kicks to start, trying to find the right distance to attack from. Guimaraes shoots in, pushing Stittgen up against the cage. Guimaraes now working a single as Stittgen throws lefts to the face, but Guimaraes gets the takedown for a quick second before Stittgen stands back up. Stittgen reverses into a takedown of his own, as Guimaraes quickly fights back and applies more pressure to Stittgen. Guimaraes trying very hard for a takedown, as Stittgen is showing excellent takedown defense. Guimaraes still working for the takedown, though he is doing little to no damage on Stittgen.

Round 2: Stittgen lands a big kick that drops Guimaraes, and Stittgen quickly goes on the attack but Guimaraes is able to get back up. The fight returns to where we spent the majority of the first round, with Guimaraes holding Stittgen up against the cage looking for a takedown. Stittgen with some big strikes, countering and getting a few more strikes in on Stittgen. Big kick lands by Stittgen, who is looking for a knockout blow. Guimaraes trying for another takedown, as Stittgen attempts to lock in a kimura with under a minute to go. Stittgen releases the kimura attempt to fight off the takedown attempt. The ref steps in and brings them back to the center.

Round 3: Guimaraes seems exhaust as we enter the final round, taking several big, deep breathes in his corner. Guimaraes blocks a couple of kicks, but Stittgen connects with a jab. Guimaraes comes firing off with several lefts and rights, but doesn't connect. Guimaraes with a pair of outside leg kicks, as he does a fine job of blocking Stittgen's attempts. Inside leg kick followed by a jab from Guimaraes, and Stittgen tells him to bring it. Stittgen throwing a lot of leg kicks that are not connecting right now. Stittgen with a left that seemed to daze Guimaraes for a brief second. Wild right misses by Guimaraes, as he goes back to working the body with kicks. Guimaraes goes in for a takedown, and ends up with Stittgen up against the fence yet again. Guimaraes letting out several loud yells as he lands punches to the body. More loud grunts and screams by Guimaraes as he fires off elbows and knees and the round comes to an end.
