UFC on FOX 3: Pat Barry vs. Lavar Johnson Round-by-Round Recap and Analysis

The first main card bout took place between two heavyweight sluggers in Barry and Johnson.

Round 1: They touch gloves and set up in the center. They both dig in with punches and Barry digs in with a mean leg kick. Barry gets backed to the cage and fires off a head kick. Johnson looking to engage the clinch and work knees. He lands a pair to the face. Barry in trouble, getting stuck on the cage as Johnson hammers him with big punches. Barry shoots for the takedown and Johnson sprawls.

Barry manages to fight to mount, but then switches to side control. Barry looking for an Americana; it looks tight, but Johnson manages to fight out of it. Barry still in side control. Less than two minutes to go. Johnson rolls to his knees with an underhook and gets to his feet. Barry with another leg kick as Johnson charges forward. Johnson with a knee. Johnson knocks Barry back with a head kick. Barry is pinned against the cage as Johnson tees off with punches. Thirty seconds left and Barry is just covering up, Johnson is wailing on him repeatedly with a right uppercut-left hook combo. Barry drops to the mat after absorbing a tremendous beating. This one is over.
