There were two very divided camps when it came to the main event of UFC 155.
One group thought that Cain Velasquez being superior to Junior dos Santos in every area of MMA besides knockout power and stand up defense would earn him an easy victory and his heavyweight championship belt back.
The other group chastised their counterparts for diminishing dos Santos’ résumé, and wondered why people thought it would be so easy for Velasquez to take down a guy who had been on his back for less than 15 seconds over the course of his entire UFC career.
After the first round, that latter group stopped wondering.
Velasquez dominated the rematch from start to finish and, when it was all said and done, he emerged from UFC 155 having reclaimed his belt.
Meanwhile, the co-main event of the evening produced by the far the bloodiest and most epic war in recent memory. Joe Lauzon once again proved that he was more novelty act than legitimate lightweight contender as he continuously allowed Jim Miller to put on a clinic while he tried to sneak out a submission victory, but the final result still ended up being very entertaining.
