UFC 153 Round-by-Round Review: Anderson Silva vs. Stephan Bonnar
It's main event time, as Anderson Silva (32-4) takes on Stephan Bonnar (15-7) at light heavyweight. Silva's UFC middleweight title will not be on the line, but his undefeated UFC record will be. The referee is Marc Goddard.
Round 1: Bonnar comes right out and Silva slips, allowing Bonnar to grab hold of him against the fence. Bonnar lands some nice knees to the legs of Silva. Knee to the body by Silva, and a glancing knee to the head of Bonnar, who is trying to take Silva down. Silva fending off the takedown attempt of Bonnar.
Silva spins Bonnar around, but takes a knee to the side of the body. Silva picking Bonnar apart, then standing with his back to the cage. Silva takes the time to let his corner know he is fine, fends off another takedown attempt by Bonnar. Silva wipes his own forehead, standing there and striking with Bonnar. Silva strikes, Bonnar goes down and this one is over, as Bonnar curls up following a knee to the body. Looked like Bonnar might have been hurt following the takedown by Silva, as he seemed to clutch his leg.
Anderson Silva def. Stephan Bonnar via TKO (strikes) at 4:40 of Round 1
