UFC 152 Round-by-Round Review: T.J. Grant vs. Evan Dunham

Lightweights make their first appearance, as TJ Grant (18-5) takes on Evan Dunham (13-2). We will have Dan Miragliotta as the referee in charge.

Round 1: Dunham putting together nice combos early, landing an uppercut and a straight left. Knee to the body by Grant. Right-hand lands by Grant, who has turned the tides from the early moments. Dunham with an uppercut, but takes another knee to the body in landing the strike. Dunham landing some big rights, as Grant fires back. A good, solid exchange by the two through the first couple of minutes.

Straight left lands by Grant, but Dunham catches his kick attempt again. Crazy exchange, as both fighters are just walking right into everything. Inside leg kick by Grant. Elbows by Grant to the face of Dunham. More body shots from Grant, as he lands a right-left combo off the clinch. No desire to go to the ground from either fighter, and just like that, Dunham gets a takedown. Both fighters were disappointed to be bumped from the main card.

Round 2: Dunham catches a kick and fires off a nice right. Dunham with 50 significant strikes and the one takedown through five minutes of action. Straight strike by Grant, but Dunham doesn't wilt, standing and exchanging. Knee to the face causes a huge cut to Dunham, but he comes right at Grant, smiling. Blood going up and down the middle of Dunham's face, like a straight line of red. Failed takedown by Dunham, as Grant tries for one of his own to no avail. Another rapid-fire exchange by the two. Grant comes in as Dunham tries to get the blood off his face. Blood everywhere now on Dunham, as each time Grant hits him, the cut seems to expand. One-two combo by Dunham followed by a body shot. Dunham gets another late takedown as less than a minute remains.

Round 3: Likely to be an intense final round, as these two have traded blows for 10 minutes. Dunham with a six-inch cut from the knee of Grant, according to Joe Rogan. Dunham firing off everything: lefts, rights, kicks, as the blood begins to ooze again. Solid left to the face of Grant. Combo lands by Dunham, as Grant looks to be tired. Dunham with a left that connects on the jaw of Grant. Dunham lands punch-punch-kick on Grant, but is unable to get the takedown. Swooping left misses by Dunham. Grant answers back with under two minutes to go, and gets denied on the takedown attempt. Grant puts his hands on his legs, as he looks completely exhausted. Dunham denied the takedown. Under 50 seconds, and more strikes exchanged. Dunham drops levels and gets the takedown, possibly winning the round and the fight by doing so.
